Northern
Lights™
Color Saturation on the Fringe of
Human Vision |
|
|
|
NorthernLights combines
DSC’s patented chart technologies, the 28
popular ChromaDuMonde 709 colors, 11 step
crossed grayscale, hyperbolic resolution
wedges (DSC’s trumpets), advanced
electronics and extreme saturation primary
colors. These colors have a gamut so
saturated they almost fall off the edge of
the visual spectrum. NorthernLights also
features upper and lower 18% gray strips
that provide assurance that the test target
is evenly illuminated. Designed to assist in
testing and calibrating the latest extended
color space camera systems (ex. Sony F-23,
F-25), the Northern lights is the next
generation of color alignment and
calibration technology. |

Some of the
features of the Northern Lights include:
• 28 ChromaDuMonde color chips - provide a
predictable hexagonal vectorscope display
which can be used to calibrate a camera to
Rec. 709 standard
• 11 Step crossed grayscale -
spectrophotometrically neutral grayscale
allows users to check and adjust cameras
dynamic range and gamma curves
• 18% gray strips - allow for users to check
and adjust evenness of lighting across the
whole chart using a waveform monitor or
visual reference
• Hyperbolic resolution trumpets -
quick check of vertical and horizontal
resolution up to 800 LPPH
• Center "Cavi Color" rear illuminated color
chip - provides a unprecedented spectrum of
high saturation / wide gamut colors
• Color control - hand held controller
allows users to make fine adjustments to
each color and tune them to the specific
scene and lighting requirements
• Variable speed control - speed colors up
to create white and white balance to front
of chart, then slow colors down to test
individual colors (with vectorscope
using lower gain around 0.5)
• Generates six super saturated primary colors for
testing and analysis |
