CineZone

CineZone Launch and what is CineZone?

CineZone combines many charts in one and is another brain child of Steve Lucas and DSC.  The aim - to develop the ultimate tool for testing lenses and cameras at different distances and f stops.

You will use the front of CineZone to test: Sharpness and Acutance, Aliasing, Resolution,  also Exposure and Gamma using the truly neutral 18% gray.

On the back, use CamWhite, DSC's patented spectrophotometrically neutral white card for accurate white balancing. The back of the chart also has a Multi format Framing Chart and a useful Slate for logging Production/Scene/Take, etc.

DSC’s Lab Manager Shirley Li worked with Steve Lucas in Hollywood to produce a chart that was easier to use and does a better job that any previous pattern.  And, CineZone is small enough to slip into a brief case or camera bag.

Designed primarily for film and digital cinema, CineZone is also ideal for HDTV and even regular video use.

The DeWrinkler

Introduced at NAB '09 - designed to help make you look good, when you make aging talk show hosts and other "wrinklies" look their best.

Use your DeWrinkler to:

  1. Adjust eight different shades of skin tone

  2. Quickly set skin detail levels with precision

  3. Check that settings aren't affecting other colors

  4. Earn praise, not complaints from "the wrinklies" on the set.

Meet Splash - the "Diver's Pet"

DSC CamAligns have been used for many years by the world's leading underwater cinematographers, such as Tom Campbell, whose work has appeared on the Discovery Channel, BBC, and National Geographic

Tom says “I have been using DSC charts for many years, so I can comfortably recommend them. People often ask why my footage looks so good, with such brilliant colors - I tell them it's because I shoot it right in the first place. Using DSC's charts is a big part of that process.  Sure you can do some correction in post, but by using the DSC chart to properly white balance from the beginning, we are able to minimize post production costs, which any client always appreciates."

Splash is tough - designed for every day and weekend recreational divers.  Mounted on a water-repellent acrylic substrate, Splash is the perfect diving companion.  The chart includes a precision five-step spectrophotometrically neutral grayscale, six primary vector colors chart and six intermediate colors, in addition to an expanded back focus pattern.  Splash comes pre-punched complete with lanyard.
