Using your SlateMate ®

SlateMate should be illuminated using the standard set lighting for the scene, obviously placing in a dark or heavily color filtered area would make any data meaningless

Tilt pattern slightly if necessary to eliminate reflections (the main purpose of the high-gloss surface is to provide high dynamic range and consistent grayscale reproduction; it also makes for easy maintenance)

The black and white chips are useful for setting levels and the mid-gray for adjusting gamma. The outer gray patches should match accurate 18% gray cards.
