As many of you know, for over 40 years we have had the privilege of working with leaders of the industry to provide test targets that assist in improving the quality of television and motion picture images.

Despite the best efforts of educators to provide relevant and current training, the move from academia to working in the industry is typically a revelation to both new employees and employers alike.  We have seen this many times over the years and despite a superb education at Ryerson University, graduate Michael Kent also remarked on the differences when he joined DSC 18 months ago.

We discussed the issue and decided we were in a unique position to do something about it.  The idea of producing an annual volume of current practices along with a set of basic test charts appealed to the movers and shakers of the industry who generously agreed to contribute their knowledge and experience in a series of papers and articles.

"Imaging Technology 2007" was launched at NAB 2007 in Las Vegas.  To reduce the costs to students, DSC is subsidizing this initiative and the books will only be available through Educational Institutions that choose to include Imaging Technology in their curricula.

In addition to the invaluable papers and articles, each book contains Genuine DSC Colorbar/Grayscale, MultiBurst, BackFocus, CamWhite and CamWarm patterns.  Slightly larger patterns mounted and bound in DSC's CamBook list for $582.00 US - the suggested list price of Imaging Technology to students is $140.00 US - typical University discounts apply.  The minimum quantity is 18 books per order.
